Prune the Change Process Model

This guideline organises the pruning of  the change process model to obtain a more manageable number of scenaria prior to the qualitative and quantitative evaluations. Pruning consists in removing alternatives in the change process model using strategic criteria. Due to its nature, pruning is performed by top managers of the enterprise.

Top managers elicit the set of strategic criteria that will be used for pruning.

The set of alternatives related to every AND/OR and OR relationships is evaluated against the strategic criteria. The removal of alternatives based on this evaluation may lead to 
a) the reduction of the number of choices introduced by AND/OR or OR relationship 
b) the transformation of AND/OR relationship into an AND relationship 
c) the transformation of an OR relationship into an AND relationship.
