The IEEE International requirements Engineering Conference is the result of a merger of the IEEE Symposium on Requirements Engineering and the IEEE Conference on requirements Engineering. The Symposium and Conference were alternating biennial events. The joint history of them is as follows :

  • Third Symposium on Requirements Engineering (RE'97), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
  • Third IEEE International Conference on Requirements Engineering (ICRE'98), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
  • Fourth IEEE International Symposium on Requirements Engineering (RE'99), Limerick, Ireland
  • Fourth IEEE International Conference on Requirements Engineering (ICRE'00), Schaumburg, Illinois
  • Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Requirements Engineering (RE'01), Toronto, Canada
From 2002, the symposium and conference formally merged to become the IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE'02), which will then be held annually.
